The Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU), Sirsa, is committed to excellence in teaching, research, and innovation in the field of computing and information technology. The department offers postgraduate and doctoral programmes, including Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering, M.Tech. Weekend Programme in Computer Science & Engineering, MCA, M.Sc CS (AI & DS), PGDCA, B.Tech (AI & ML), B.Tech CSE , with a curriculum that integrates strong theoretical foundations with practical and research-oriented learning. The programmes are designed to keep pace with emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things (IoT) etc.

Inception & Foundation (2000 – 2003)

2000: Kurukshetra University established a Post Graduate Regional Centre in Sirsa to improve access to higher education in the region.
2003: The Government of Haryana passed Act 9 of 2003, elevating the regional center into a full-fledged, autonomous state university named Chaudhary Devi Lal University.

UGC Recognition & Expansion (2003 – 2010)

2003: CDLU was officially recognized under Section 2(f) of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act shortly after its inception.
2009: The university achieved a major administrative milestone when it was declared eligible for central financial assistance under Section 12(B) of the UGC Act.
Campus Growth: Construction began on residential facilities, teaching blocks, and the Vivekananda Library across the 213-acre campus on Barnala Road

Recent Development & Present Status

Curriculum Modernization: The university has steadily expanded its academic offerings, restructuring under the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) and implementing the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) frameworks.
Affiliated Colleges: CDLU serves as a major affiliating-cum-teaching university, with dozens of government and private institutions in the Sirsa district operating under its umbrella.
